Glasgow School Estate PPP 3ED update

“Our schools will open as normal after the Spring break on Monday 18 April.”

We will all be opening next week as usual. We will be putting out a communication via social media and the press confirming this. This is the message we sent to all elected members today. Feel free to circulate around your network.

You will be aware of the recent media reports on the closure of Edinburgh Schools following structural defects. Our PPP contractor – 3Ed – contacted the council to say that they wanted to carry out surveys of their own on the three schools built by Miller Construction as part of the Glasgow PPP schools project in 2002.

We have just received the verbal results back and I have issued the press statement copied below for your information:Council spokeswoman said: “We have received a reassuring verbal report from our PPP contractor’s structural engineer that confirms there is no structural defect or health and safety issue regarding the results of the surveys in the three schools built by Miller Construction.

We will be publishing a story on the GCC website and tweeting a link via @GlasgowCC so that we can update parents and carers that it is business as usual on Monday after the holidays. https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=19375
